The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are committed to supporting those who serve in the military and that effort happens on a nightly basis. After each game, the team acknowledges a player who put forth an exceptional effort. Instead of a hard hat, belt, or chain, the Penguins give out a 'warrior helmet' that was actually worn in combat and donated to the team by a Navy SEAL. The effort is spear-headed by defenseman Zach Trotman, who has pledged to donate $50 for every Penguins win during the 2019-20 season. The funds raised will be donated to the Virginia Beach Fallen Heroes. But Trotman and the Penguins are taking their efforts one step further, asking for support from one of the most loyal fan bases in professional sports.
